Based on the 2003 movie with the same name, School of Rock is a musical about a wannabe rockstar, Dewey Finn, who poses as a substitute teacher at a prestigious elementary school. Determined to win the battle of the bands, Dewey decides to turn his group of straight-A students into rebellious rockstars.
My overall lighting concept was “the power of rock.” The main character, Dewey Finn, lives in the world of Rock and Roll. Horace Green, the prep school, lives in a world of order, unity, and perfection. The visual world of rock slowly encroaches as Dewey shares his vision of the world and the others embrace the power of rock.
